I'm sitting here in our empty condo. It's pretty strange. D is coming back from a trip to his office to have lunch with his boss and pick up a few last things. The movers came this morning and loaded the semi within a few hours--they will meet us on Friday in Mad-Town. That gives us just enough time to clean the floors before the furniture is set down. Did I mention we have beautiful hardwood floors on the main level and laminate on the lower level? We are also having the carpeted bedrooms cleaned because the former owners had cats and I'm allergic. I was able to convince D to pay someone to do the carpet cleaning. :-)
The fridge and freezer are very nearly empty, we did a great job eating up all the random stuff that was in there over the last few weeks. We will bring a few things with us in a cooler so we don't have to start completely from scratch.
We are staying with my aunt and uncle in Mad-Town tonight. Then tomorrow morning at 11:00 we have our closing and we will become owners of our first real house! The condo has been a really good practice run--being responsible for the inside of the place and upkeep, etc. But we've never had to mow the lawn, shovel the sidewalks, clean the gutters, tend to the vegetation...and I think for the most part we are looking forward to that. Okay, some of that. And the trade-offs will be totally worth it...no more hearing the neighbors or worrying about them hearing us (except during our wild parties, of course!). It will be fabulous to truly have a space of our own.
(psst, I also get to shop for some new stuff, esp. area rugs for those gorgeous floors! Woo hoo!)

I hate that feeling of sitting in an empty dorm room/apartment/condo when you are leaving. But it will be so exciting to arrive at your new house tomorrow and know that soon you will making your own stamp on it! :)
